Bakhtar Institute envisions

• an Afghanistan, which is self-reliant, prosperous, free from all sorts of gender, ethnic, linguistic, and religious discriminations; lives in peace with itself, the region, and the global community; and embodies democratic and civic values;

• an Afghan diaspora community, which is active in social, political, economic, and cultural dimensions of German society and Europe.

Mission

As an independent, impartial, and nonprofit professional organization, Bakhtar Institute produces evidence-based knowledge and policy information on matters related to Afghanistan and the Afghan diaspora in Europe, through education, research, and advocacy.
