Dr. Bashir Kazimi

Dr. Bashir Kazimi is a research scientist with expertise in artificial intelligence and deep learning. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey, and a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence from Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain. After completing his Master’s, he pursued a PhD at Leibniz University Hannover in Germany while simultaneously working as a deep learning researcher at the Institute of Cartography and Geoinformatics.

Dr. Kazimi has extensive experience working on cutting-edge research projects involving deep learning and has published several papers in top-tier conferences and journals. His research interests include self-supervised learning, active learning, and their applications in various fields such as archaeology, materials science, and medical imaging.

Currently, Dr. Kazimi is a part of the Data Analysis and Machine Learning group at the Institute of Materials Data Science and Informatics at Forschungszentrum Jülich in Germany. He is excited to continue the journey in deep learning research and looks forward to utilizing expertise to tackle new challenges in the field. By joining Bakhtar Institute, he is hoping to put his skills and experience to use towards creating a better future for Afghanistan and the Afghan diaspora community.

He is fluent in Dari, English and Turkish and has intermediate but improving levels of German, Pashto and Bengali language skills.
